ABOUT ME

Recently named as one of the current pioneers in Milton Keynes, I have worked as a film and TV producer for twenty-five years.

My first job after university in the UK was the production of a TV documentary on 'Girls' Education in The Gambia' for UNICEF.

I followed this with producing publications for the President's Office, the production of the Gambia's first business directory, Principal Producer with Gambia Television, responsible for Women, Children and youth Programmes, Researcher into Violence Against Women in The Gambia for the Africa Law Society, research into the impact of HIV education for the Medical Research Council.

I also set up and run The Gambia's first production company producing and distributing content to Africa, Europe and the United States and also providing Line Production services for international producers like NBC, Channel 4 and others from Germany and South Africa.

I am the founder of Film Academy Milton Keynes, an accredited Film Academy offering accredited and  unaccredited training in filmmaking. Over the past ten years we have worked with almost 3000 young people in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Northampton, London and Oxford. The Academy has over the years provided many work experience opportunities for young people in Milton Keynes and is committed to continuing to build capacity in this sector.

I run several events such as the Black History Month Art, Culture and Business Exhibition, the Black Excellence Awards and the Milton Keynes Power Breakfast Networking Event. All of these events seek to empower and uplift people who are doing amazing work in the city but not necessarily seen in the spotlight. The events also aim to create new partnerships and strengthen collaborations.

I am an academic and university lecturer and a ward Councillor on Milton Keynes City Council

My clients over the years have included Plan International, UNDP, UNICEF, Action Aid, the European Union, Ward and Borough Councils, the World Bank, Shell Oil, schools, production companies and others.

I am a social entrepreneur and avidly dedicated to community development and empowerment.

I am passionate about making a difference, filmmaking, training and creating a legacy.

I participated as an expert in the roundtable discussions on Human-AI collaboration looking at issues of copyright, bias, ownership and ethics with Bournemouth University funded by AHRC.

I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Education, Creative and Media with Bournemouth University. My research will focus on the impact Artificial Intelligence will have on filmmaking education. production and viewing.
